New affiliate media in Peru

Medios Federales continues to expand its presence in Latin America with the incorporation of Pro y Contra, a media outlet based in Iquitos, the capital of the Loreto region, in the Peruvian Amazon. Its arrival adds a perspective deeply linked to the reality of this region to the network, with a local agenda that maintains a strong connection with its communities.

Pro y Contra presents itself as a Peruvian newspaper with national and regional circulation, edited in Iquitos and with a regional edition in Yurimaguas. Its journey within the Amazonian information ecosystem has a remarkable particularity: the media outlet notes that it began to have an online presence in 1993, at an early stage of the digital transformation of the Peruvian press.

Its coverage is especially concentrated in Loreto, with content related to politics, public management, economy, infrastructure, environment, and social issues in the region. Recent publications feature topics such as the protection of the Nanay River, demands from social organizations, and issues related to public services and territorial development, reflecting the weight of the regional agenda within its journalistic proposal.

The incorporation of Pro y Contra represents a significant step for Medios Federales toward a broader coverage of Latin American territories. Iquitos and Loreto have unique geographical and social characteristics, which make the role of local media particularly significant as spaces for information and monitoring of the public agenda.

With this addition, Medios Federales continues to build a network that combines national reach media with proposals deeply rooted in their communities. Pro y Contra brings experience, knowledge of the territory, and its own voice from the Peruvian Amazon.
